Volotea announces operations at Campania’s new airport

Volotea has announced the commencement of its operations at the new Campania airport with flights to four destinations. The opening of the new Salerno airport is scheduled for July 11th.

The airline confirms the strategic importance of Campania in its development plans, supporting the local economy by increasing tourist flows. The new airport terminal will have connections to Cagliari, Nantes, Catania, Verona, and the rest of Europe.

Connection Details

The initial destinations from Campania will be Nantes, available from July 11th, and Cagliari, available from July 13th, both with a frequency of two flights per week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Starting from September 2nd, connections to Catania and Verona will be available, with two weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays. Both destinations will operate during the winter season.

“We are very proud to be the first to announce the start of our operations at the Salerno-Costa D’Amalfi airport. The commencement of operations from Salerno represents a significant moment for the region and for Volotea, allowing us to further expand our offerings in the area,” said Carlos Muñoz, President and Founder of Volotea.

“In fact, in addition to the 23 connections already available from Capodichino, starting today we can offer 4 new routes from Salerno, allowing numerous Italian and European tourists to discover the charming Amalfi Coast and beyond. This announcement reaffirms once again the importance of Campania in our future growth plans,” added Muñoz.

Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC, expressed that “the commencement of flights at the Salerno Costa D’Amalfi airport on the scheduled date is the result of great strategic, infrastructural, and commercial work. The agreement with Volotea, our partner since 2013, is indeed an extraordinary driver for the development of tourism in our region, both for incoming and outgoing tourist flows.”

“The recognition and appreciation of the Spanish airline, both in Italy and abroad, represent a significant advantage in increasing passenger volume in Salerno, as well as the articulated flight offerings including domestic connections to the islands and the international route to Nantes, Volotea’s main base and a wonderful city of art on the banks of the Loire,” added Barbieri.

Italy is Volotea’s second market, and in 2024, it will increase its capacity by 16%, offering 4.5 million seats in the country, inaugurating new routes, and opening its eighth Italian base in Bari.
