ITA Airways announces seven new destinations for Summer 2024

ITA Airways, Italy’s state-owned airline, has announced this Wednesday (11) some of its plans for the Summer season of 2024. The airline, launched in 2021 as the de facto successor of Alitalia, will open seven new international destinations, all connected to its hub in Rome/Fiumicino.

In the long-haul segment, he airline will connect Rome to Chicago six times a week from April 7, 2024, with an additional frequency from June. Toronto, meanwhile, will join the network with six weekly rotations from May 1st, 2024, the operation becoming daily also in June.

Of the five medium and short-haul destinations announced, there is still no information on frequency, although two are in Africa: Accra, to be started in June, and Dakar, to be started in July.

The other three are located in the Middle East, and are major bases of two of ITA Airways’ partners, namely Kuwait Airways and Saudi Arabian Airlines. The route connecting Rome to Riyadh will be opened in May; Kuwait City will be in the airline’s network from June; and Jeddah is to be available from October, already by the end of the Summer season.

The announcement was made in a press conference at the TTG Travel Experience International Tourism Fair, one of Italy’s most important travel conferences, which this year is taking place in Rimini.

“This is my first time at TTG Travel Experience, and I’m honored to be here today at this annual event where tourism operators gather to build the upcoming seasons”, stated ITA Airways’ General Manager, Andrea Benassi, according to a press release.

“ITA Airways wants to be the reference national carrier for the mobility of Italians by ensuring quality connectivity at both domestic and international level, with a particular focus on the intercontinental segment. Since the start of our operations, our goal is to be an efficient, innovative carrier, representing Italy worldwide. our passengers should immediately feel at home and experience Italy even before landing”, the executive added.
