    This week Volaris inaugurated six new domestic routes from Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA), increasing its offer to more than 11 destinations. With the arrival of these new services, the low cost carrier becomes the leading airline operator at AIFA with a capacity of 126,863,629 seat kilometers offered (ASK).

    The company’s new non-stop connections include: Guadalajara (GDL), Oaxaca (OAX), Puerto Escondido (PXM), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), La Paz (LAP) and San Jose del Cabo (SJD): in the latter two, the low cost carrier is the only operator.

    Volaris operates from three airports in the Mexico City metropolitan area where it offers more than 240,000 seats per month from Benito Juarez Airport (MEX), more than 24,000 at Felipe Angeles International Airport (NLU) and more than 15,000 at Toluca (TLC). The Mexican low cost carrier plans to continue increasing its capacity in order to serve all the communities surrounding the Mexican capital.

    According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), Volaris is the main domestic airline operator in Mexico between January – July 2022, having mobilized 13,111,851 passengers and 12,967.6 tons of cargo in 85,499 air operations.

    Volaris Schedule at Felipe Angeles Airport (NLU)

    • Cancun (CUN) two daily flights.
    • Guadalajara (GDL) daily flights.
    • Huatulco (HUX) three flights a week.
    • La Paz (LAP) three flights a week.
    • Merida (MID) daily flights.
    • Mexicali (MXL) daily flights.
    • Oaxaca (OAX) four flights a week.
    • Puerto Escondido (PXM) three flights a week.
    • Puerto Vallarta (PVR) daily flights.
    • San Jose del Cabo (SJD) four flights a week.
    • Tijuana (TIJ) daily flights.

    All routes are operated in Airbus A320neo aircraft with a capacity of 186 seats in a single configuration.

    Volaris NLU

    According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, Volaris will have a monthly seat offering of 108,624 seats in 584 operations across 11 domestic destinations at Felipe Angeles Airport and will have a 46% share of the NLU market. At this time, the company has not yet announced any international service from AIFA.
