Unlocking More US Cities: Azul and United Airlines Enhance Their Codeshare Agreement

The codeshare agreement between Azul Linhas Aéreas and United Airlines will grow significantly by incorporating five new cities in the United States.

Passengers will now be able to fly from Brazil to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, and from there connect with United flights to Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, San Francisco, and Washington, cities that are added to the existing agreement that includes Houston and Newark.

«The expansion of the agreement with United is another step in Azul’s mission to offer the best experience in both flights and destination offerings. We are accelerating our international presence and now, our customers can depart from our hubs and, with a single ticket, go to modern and vibrant cities, full of culture and professional opportunities,» said André Mercadante, Director of Alliances, Planning, and RM at Azul.

Tickets are already available for sale on flights starting May 10th.

According to Cirium, in July Azul will have these frequencies to the United States:

• Belem (BEL) – Fort Lauderdale (FLL): 4 weekly flights on A320.
• Belo Horizonte/Confins (CNF) – Fort Lauderdale (FLL): three weekly flights on A330-200.
• Manaus (MAO) – Fort Lauderdale (FLL): 3 weekly flights on A320.
• Recife (REC) – Fort Lauderdale (FLL): two weekly A330-200 flights.
• Sao Paulo/Viracopos (VCP) – Fort Lauderdale (FLL): 3 weekly flights on A330-200 and 5 weekly flights on A330neo.
• Sao Paulo/Viracopos /VCP – Orlando (MCO): two weekly flights on A330-300 and five weekly flights on A330neo.
• Recife (REC) – Orlando (MCO): three weekly flights on A330neo.

This gives a total of 13,665 seats per week in both directions.

United Airlines operates a daily flight to São Paulo/Guarulhos from Newark, Washington-Dulles, Houston-Intercontinental, and Chicago, as well as a daily flight from Houston-Intercontinental to Rio de Janeiro/Galeao.

The codeshare agreement also allows passengers to access more destinations with a single ticket and check-in luggage from the origin to the final destination.
