    After a six-year absence, United Airlines resumed operations to Norway on May 20. Flight UA 270 took off from Newark-Liberty Airport (EWR) at 21:17 local time and landed in Bergen (BGO) at 10:26 the following day.

    With the arrival of this new service, Flesland Airport (BGO) once again gets non-stop flights to the United States, the last transatlantic operation in Bergen (BGO) was on October 26, 2018, by Norwegian, with non-stop connection to New York (JFK).

    United last operated on Norwegian on September 7, 2016, with service between Newark (EWR) and Oslo (OSL) with daily flights. This new destination will be the only route in Scandinavia by the airline this summer and will be offered 1,014 seats per week.

    Flight Itinerary

    • Newark – Bergen Flight UA270 EWR 20:40 – BGO 10:05+1 Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
    • Bergen – Newark Flight UA 271 BGO 11:55 – EWR 14:25 Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

    According to Norwegian media outlet Kommunikasjon, flights will be operated on 169-seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft (16 Business Class/45 Economy Plus/108 Economy). This service will be available until September 27, 2022.

    «The direct route expands our European route network, giving our customers a direct connection from Bergen to New York and access to the route network from Newark as a hub to more than 85 destinations in the U.S.» said Marcel Fuchs, United’s General Manager of International Sales.

    «The route also opens the gateway from the U.S. to western Norway and provides easier access to the world-famous fjords for both business travelers and tourists» added Fuchs.

    «The route is important to strengthen the airport’s position as an international airport and reconnect Western Norway with the U.S.,» said Helge Eidsnes, airport director at Bergen Airport, Flesland

    «The region’s business community, and perhaps especially the oil industry in Western Norway, depends on good direct connections to operate and further develop» added Eidsnes.

    Bergen (BGO) is part of United’s five new destinations for the 2022 summer season, the airline already recently inaugurated services to Ponta Delgada, Azores (PDL) and Amman, Jordan (AMM), for the month of June it is adding two more unprecedented non-stop connections to Spain to Tenerife – South (TFS) and Palma de Mallorca (PMI).
