TAP Air Portugal Launches Flights Between Porto and Boston
TAP Air Portugal continues its transatlantic expansion with the launch of a new seasonal service between Porto and Boston, becoming the only airline to offer nonstop flights between the two cities. With this new route, the carrier now operates five intercontinental flights from Porto International Airport.
Flight TP 227 was operated with an Airbus A321LR, registration CS-TXJ, named Bartolomeu de Gusmão. The aircraft departed from Porto International Airport at 6:22 p.m. local time on May 14 and landed at Logan International Airport at 8:10 p.m., completing the journey in six hours and 47 minutes.
The Portuguese airline also offers two daily flights between Lisbon and Boston, using Airbus A321LR aircraft, providing a total of 6,048 weekly seats between Portugal and the Massachusetts capital. All TAP Air Portugal operations in Boston are carried out with single-aisle aircraft.
Flight schedule between Porto (OPO) and Boston (BOS):
- Flight TP 227: OPO 6:10 p.m. – BOS 8:45 p.m. (Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays)
- Flight TP 228: BOS 11:05 p.m. – OPO 10:45 a.m. (+1 day) (Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays)
These flights are operated with Airbus A321LR aircraft configured for 171 passengers, with 16 seats in Business Class and 155 in Economy. From Porto, TAP also offers connections to New York/Newark, Luanda, São Paulo–Guarulhos, and Rio de Janeiro–Galeão.
TAP Air Portugal began flying to Boston in 2016 and is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. The airline launched its services between Portugal and the United States in 1969 and currently flies to New York (JFK and Newark), Miami, Washington Dulles, Chicago O’Hare, San Francisco, with plans to launch flights to Los Angeles.
