TAAG Angola Airlines Takes Delivery of Its Second Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner
TAAG Angola Airlines has received its second Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, an aircraft that landed at the new Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) in Luanda. The addition of this aircraft, registered as D2-TER, is part of the company's strategic plan for the 2024-2029 period, focusing on the modernization and expansion of its long-haul fleet.
This new Dreamliner joins its counterpart, the D2-TEQ, which currently operates the route between Luanda and São Paulo. According to a statement from TAAG Angola Airlines, the arrival of the D2-TER will enhance the airline's capacity to serve its intercontinental routes with greater efficiency and passenger comfort.
The aircraft was incorporated under a leasing agreement and features an initial configuration of 345 seats, with 63 in Premium Economy and 282 in Economy Class. The company noted that this cabin layout could be reconfigured in the future to meet market demands.
The choice of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is based on its fuel efficiency, reduced CO2 emissions, and lower operational costs. For passengers, this model offers an improved onboard experience with quieter cabins and a modern design.
Expansion and hub strategy
Fleet renewal is a key investment in TAAG's strategy, aimed at boosting its operational excellence and commercial positioning. The airline is focused on establishing the new Luanda airport as a strategic hub to connect Angola with destinations across multiple continents.
