Spirit launches 4 new routes from Newark

Spirit Airlines is expanding its operations from the New York metropolitan area, the low-cost carrier has announced four new routes at Newark (EWR) with daily nonstop flights to Indianapolis (IND), Los Angeles (LAX), Oakland (OAK), and Pittsburgh (PIT).

The company will offer a temporary service to Louisville (SDF). This will give visitors from New Jersey a more convenient way to get to the Kentucky Derby. Spirit will operate two flights between May 5 and May 8 at this destination.

«We know people are eager to travel this summer. We are pleased to add new high-value options for guests looking to visit friends and family in northern New Jersey or for those looking for affordable options for travel from the Garden State across the country,» said John Kirby, vice president of network planning for Spirit Airlines.

In the 2022 summer season Spirit will offer up to 24 daily flights from Newark (EWR). Thus, the airline will be doubling its operation from 2019, making it the fourth-largest airline in-seat offerings at New Jersey’s premier airport.

«As our domestic travel options continue to grow, we are excited to have Spirit expand its service routes,» said James Gill, general manager of New Jersey Airports.

«This helps keep Newark Liberty competitive by giving business and leisure travelers additional options and greater flexibility in planning their trips» added Gill.

Data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, Spirit during the summer will have a summer offering of 126,852 seats on 640 air operations from Newark (EWR).
