Spirit Airlines announced the winter season resumption of three of its seasonal international routes from Fort Lauderdale (FLL), its main gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean. Starting December 4, 2025, the company will once again connect Guayaquil (GYE) in Ecuador, Managua (MGA) in Nicaragua, and San Salvador (SAL) in El Salvador.

The operation will extend through the peak demand season, ending on March 3, 2026. This strategic move allows the airline to capitalize on the increase in travel during the year-end festivities and the North American winter season.

The company expressed its enthusiasm, confirming that they are resuming these connections "just in time for the holiday season travel." This temporary reactivation is in line with a business model that seeks to adapt capacity to demand peaks, maximizing operational efficiency.

Flights on all three routes will operate with a daily frequency on Airbus A320 aircraft, offering consistent connectivity during the three months of service.

Key Information on Spirit's Seasonal Service

Which routes are resuming? Guayaquil (GYE), Managua (MGA), and San Salvador (SAL) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL).

When will they operate? From December 4, 2025, to March 3, 2026.

What is the frequency? Flights will be daily on all three routes.

Why is it seasonal? To cater to the high travel demand during the holidays and the northern winter.

The resumption of these services strengthens Spirit Airlines' network in Fort Lauderdale, placing it in direct competition with other airlines that serve these Central and South American markets from South Florida. Specifically, Avianca flies between Fort Lauderdale, Managua, and San Salvador with a daily frequency (although it currently operates the route, at the time of this publication, it is not yet listed in the schedule for the northern winter season), while JetBlue flies to Guayaquil four times a week.
