Porter Airlines Launches Exclusive Nonstop Service Between Ottawa and Fort McMurray
Beginning November 17, Porter Airlines will connect the Canadian capital with Alberta's economic hub, offering three weekly flights on its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.
Porter Airlines announced a new route that will directly link Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM), making it the only airline to operate this nonstop service. The year-round flights are scheduled to begin on November 17, 2025.
The airline has planned three weekly roundtrip flights, thereby strengthening its network from the Canadian capital. According to a statement from Porter Airlines, this new connection not only links both cities but also provides easier access from Fort McMurray to the airline's extensive network in Eastern Canada, including destinations like St. John's, Halifax, Moncton, and Toronto via its Ottawa hub.
With the addition of Fort McMurray, Porter is expanding its presence in Western Canada, marking its third destination in the province of Alberta, where it already serves Calgary and Edmonton. The airline now operates flights to a total of 26 destinations from Ottawa.
The route will be serviced by Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which have a capacity for 132 passengers. These jets are known for their 2-2 seating configuration, which eliminates the middle seat, and for offering onboard amenities such as free high-speed WiFi, premium snacks, and complimentary beverages.
