Plane + Bus: Vía Bariloche launches connections at Córdoba Airport
Vía Bariloche launches direct intercity bus services from Córdoba Airport, expanding ground transportation options at Ingeniero Aeronáutico Ambrosio Taravella International Airport (COR) in the city of Córdoba, Argentina.
This new offering allows passengers arriving at or departing from Córdoba’s main airport to connect to destinations without direct flights or airport infrastructure, providing an efficient intermodal transport alternative.
Córdoba is not the first airport in the region to adopt this model. At Ezeiza International Airport, Tienda León already operates bus services to Santa Fe, Rosario, and Mar del Plata, with an intermediate stop in San Nicolás, offering passengers another option beyond air travel. Since December last year, several bus companies have also begun serving Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires as a designated stop.
The expansion by Vía Bariloche comes amid deregulation of the ground transport sector, a policy initiated by the Argentine government to allow long-distance bus companies to broaden their service offerings. This deregulation also opens the door for indirect coordination between air and bus services, enhancing intermodal travel across the country.
What destinations does Vía Bariloche serve from Córdoba Airport?
According to its website, the company currently offers seven direct routes, including:
- Catamarca
- Buenos Aires (Retiro)
- Mar del Plata
- Mendoza
- Puerto Iguazú
However, the most significant benefit lies in new access for smaller towns within Córdoba province, which can now connect directly to the capital’s airport. These include:
- Almafuerte
- Alta Gracia
- Arroyito
- Embalse Río Tercero
- Dean Funes
- Jesús María
- Recreo (Catamarca)
- Río Cuarto
- Santa Rosa de Calamuchita
- Villa General Belgrano
