[PHOTOGALLERY] Dubai 2021: onboard Saudia’s 787-10

With the first major air show happening since the pandemic kicked off, airlines are eager to display their best product to the public. So there is no wonder why a lot of the major airlines in the Middle East brought airplanes for static display here at the Dubai Air Show.

Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier Saudia opted for bringing one of their Boeing 787-10, which although is not the largest of its fleet – the company has the 777-300 -, has its best, most modern product.

And it is with some sense of pride that the airline, through all workers I spoke to in the event, talked about the features of the aircraft.

Indeed, the cabin looked very fresh and comfortable, not lacking anything with respect to other Business cabins in most 787s around the world.

Business Class offers 24 seats with full aisle access and that can reach a full-flat position.

But the cabin configuration in Saudia’s 787 is heavily dense, with 333 Economy seats, showing the airline’s focus is still at the budget traveller. As a comparison, United has 44 Business seats and 274 Economy places in its 787-10, while British Airways have 8 First, 48 Business and 200 Economy seats.

Saudia is also one of the airlines with most catering toward religious travelers in its product. The 787-10 counts with a prayer room for eight people just in front of the back galley. Additionally, in Business Class passengers can ask to be waken up for specific prayers.
