At 5:11 pm this Sunday, October 31, and nine minutes ahead of schedule, Emirates’ Airbus A380 with registration A6-EUV landed at Guarulhos airport in São Paulo, Brazil. The arrival of the aircraft, operating flight EK 261, marks the return of the world’s largest passenger aircraft to the largest South American airport, after almost a year-and-a-half hiatus.

Before the pandemic, Emirates was the only company operating the A380 in Brazil, and this should remain so from now on since there are no plans by any other airline to incorporate it on flights to the country, as an important number of operators have already fully or partially retired the model.

According to our Brazilian media partner Aeroin, the arrival of the superjumbo was broadcast live on YouTube channels like SBGR Live and Golf Oscar Romeo, which feed had more than 8,000 viewers at the time of landing.

The aircraft allocated for the re-staging flight was the A6-EUV, an aircraft delivered to Emirates in November 2017, therefore almost completing 4 years of commercial operations. Out of curiosity, this was the 100th A380 to be received by Emirates. It has the capacity to carry 515 passengers.
