The service will operate three times a week using one of the most modern and efficient aircraft in its fleet, the Airbus A350-900. This aircraft, configured with 293 seats across Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class, offers a superior flight experience thanks to a quieter cabin and improved pressurization, which reduces fatigue on long-haul journeys.

Bookings for the new service are now open. The schedule is designed to optimize connections through the Munich hub to Lufthansa's global network, including destinations in Europe and North America.

Flight LH640: Departs Munich (MUC) at 9:45 PM, arriving in Riyadh (RUH) at 4:50 AM the following day (local time).

Return Flight: Departs Riyadh (RUH) at 6:25 AM, arriving in Munich (MUC) at 10:25 AM (local time).

What You Need to Know About the New Munich-Riyadh Route

When does it start? October 26, 2025.

What aircraft will be used? An Airbus A350-900, known for its efficiency and comfort.

How often will it fly? Three times per week.

Why is this route important? It directly connects Germany to the nerve center of Saudi Vision 2030, a rapidly expanding market for business and tourism.

A Strategic Move in a Competitive Market

The relaunch of this route, which coincides with the 65th anniversary of Lufthansa's first flight to Saudi Arabia, is a calculated move. It aligns with the kingdom's ambitious Vision 2030 plan, which aims to attract foreign investment and millions of tourists. The capital, Riyadh, is set to be the epicenter of major global events, including Expo 2030 and the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

This move also positions Lufthansa in a key competitive landscape. The flag carrier Saudia and, most notably, the upcoming Riyadh Air, are working to transform Riyadh into a major global hub. By establishing a solid presence now, Lufthansa secures a share of the high-value traffic to and from Europe.

Together with services from Eurowings and ITA Airways, the Lufthansa Group will offer a total of 22 weekly frequencies to Saudi destinations including Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah. In total, the group's airlines operate over 120 weekly flights to the Middle East, underscoring their commitment to this dynamic market.
