    London Gatwick Airport will have a schedule of 50 long-haul destinations for the winter season. Ethiopian Airlines is returning, bringing the airport’s intercontinental routes to more than 80% of its pre-pandemic availability.

    The Planning Inspectorate (PINS) accepted London Gatwick’s planning application for routine use of the northern runway. This move is part of an investment strategy aimed to improve national and regional economies, resilience, reduce delays, and promote trade, tourism, and job growth.

    New Ethiopian Airlines Service to Gatwick

    Ethiopian Airlines returns to Gatwick after 17 years. The service complements daily operations to London Heathrow and will be operated on Airbus A350-900 aircraft with a capacity of 343 passengers. Promotional fares are available from GBP 980 each way.

    Ethiopian Airlines Flight Schedule to Gatwick

    Starts November 21, 2023:

    • Addis Ababa – London Gatwick Flight ET 718: ADD 00:15 – LGW 05:15, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
    • London Gatwick – Addis Ababa Flight ET 719: LGW 10:10 – ADD 20:40, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

    Ethiopian Airlines’ last service between Addis Ababa and London Gatwick was on August 24, 2006, with non-stop operation and another via Rome. The resumption offers 17 European destinations for the northern winter season.

    A Strengthened Long-Haul Network

    New U.S. routes have been launched from London Gatwick, with Norse Atlantic operating to Miami and Boston in September and adding Kingston, Montego Bay, and Bridgetown in October. British Airways will introduce a new service to Accra (Ghana) in October, following flights to Las Vegas and Vancouver earlier in the year.

    Air Mauritius starts a daily service from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in October. London Gatwick’s long-haul destinations now cover the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

    London Gatwick’s Commercial Director, Jonathan Pollard, emphasized the importance of these services for local and regional businesses, trade, and tourism, emphasizing the growth of London Gatwick’s long-haul network as crucial to the region’s economic opportunities.
