Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima reached a record-breaking 24.5 million passengers in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels for the first time. This figure represents a 3.55% increase compared to 2018, the last recorded peak, and a 7.05% growth over 2023.

The rise in passenger traffic was largely driven by the strengthening of international travel, which accounted for 11.3 million passengers, marking an 11% year-over-year increase. Additionally, Lima’s role as a regional hub facilitated the transit of 1.3 million travelers.

    Expansion and Future Growth

The airport’s expansion continues with the opening of a new terminal on March 30, 2025, increasing annual capacity to over 30 million passengers. This addition follows the inauguration of a second runway and a new control tower last year.

According to Cirium, airlines have scheduled over 30.1 million seats for 2025, reflecting a 4.55% increase compared to 2024. In the international sector, capacity will reach 13.9 million seats, with a 6.59% growth.
