LEVEL to Increase Buenos Aires–Barcelona Flights to Record Levels During Southern Hemisphere Summer
During a press conference held this morning, LEVEL CEO Rafael Jimenez Hoyos announced that the airline will reach a record number of operations on its Buenos Aires–Barcelona route during the European winter season, which coincides with summer in the Southern Hemisphere.
Starting in November, the long-haul low-cost carrier from the IAG Group (which includes British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, and Aer Lingus) will increase frequencies on the route from seven weekly flights to nine, rising to 11 weekly flights during December and January, the peak summer months, before returning to nine weekly flights in February and March.
Already this Northern Hemisphere summer, LEVEL had scheduled an increase in frequency on the Buenos Aires–Barcelona route, operating daily flights from July to September—a frequency previously seen only during the winter months.
This expanded schedule represents a 28% increase in frequencies between Buenos Aires and Barcelona compared to 2024, adding 27,200 additional seats. Operating under its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC) since December 2024, LEVEL emphasized that its growth strategy is focused on consolidating its seven current destinations, while remaining open to exploring new routes.
“Buenos Aires is a strategic route for us,” said Rafael Jimenez Hoyos, noting that the airline nearly doubled seat capacity on the route from 523,752 seats in 2019 to 940,496 in 2024.
Jimenez Hoyos clarified that the increase in service to Buenos Aires will not come at the expense of other destinations, as the higher flight volume will be achieved through greater utilization of the existing fleet.
In 2024, LEVEL began a process of retrofit and interior standardization, while rotating aircraft for major maintenance, a cycle set to be completed this year. These upgrades will allow the airline to meet demand with its existing fleet of seven Airbus A330-200s, ahead of the eighth aircraft's arrival in 2026.
