LATAM's historic shift to Embraer: places order for up to 74 E195-E2s
LATAM Group will incorporate up to 74 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft into its fleet as part of a plan to strengthen its route network in South America. The agreement with the Brazilian manufacturer consists of a firm order for 24 aircraft and 50 additional purchase options.
With this decision, the airline group aims to expand its regional connectivity, projecting the opening of up to 35 new destinations to add to the 160 it currently operates. The introduction of this new fleet is intended to improve operational flexibility at LATAM's hubs and increase travel options.
The value of the firm order for the 24 aircraft is estimated at $2.1 billion at list prices, as reported in a statement. The company indicated that the investment is consistent with its current financial policy, and no changes to its leverage and liquidity metrics are expected. Aircraft deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. Although the cabin configuration has not been specified, the E195-E2 has a capacity for up to 146 passengers in a single class.
Initially, the aircraft will be assigned to LATAM Airlines Brazil, although the agreement allows for them to be operated by other subsidiaries of the group later on. Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group, commented that the choice of the E195-E2 "is based on the excellent economic efficiency and versatility" of the model, which will allow the company "to continue our path of profitable growth".
Integration into the Current Fleet
The E195-E2s will join a fleet that has seen a network expansion from 129 to 160 passenger destinations since 2021. This 24% growth underscores the group's focus on its domestic and regional operations.
The aircraft will partly replace the Airbus A319s, of which 39 are currently in operation and which have the highest average age in the fleet, at 17 years.

Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer, noted that LATAM's choice of the E195-E2 "will allow the group's subsidiaries to connect more destinations with the right capacity, offering passengers superior comfort".
E195-E2 Technical Specifications
