LATAM Selects RECARO PL3530 for New Premium Comfort Cabin on Boeing 787 Fleet
Named Premium Comfort, the new cabin will feature seats with a 40-inch pitch, deep recline, and 16-inch 4K screens on the airline's long-haul Boeing 787 fleet.
LATAM Airlines Group and seat manufacturer RECARO Aircraft Seating announced a collaboration to outfit the airline's new Premium Comfort cabin. The agreement includes the installation of 41 shipsets of the PL3530 model on LATAM's Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft fleet..
According to a press release from RECARO Aircraft Seating, the first delivery of these seats is scheduled for the first half of 2027. This decision brings to fruition LATAM's plan to introduce an intermediate cabin on its long-haul routes, a product positioned between business and economy classes that previously lacked a major player in the South American region.
The PL3530 seat is designed for long-haul flights and focuses on enhancing passenger comfort and privacy. Its key features include increased width, a 40-inch seat pitch, privacy wings, and a generous 8-inch recline. These specifications aim to provide superior personal space for passengers to relax or work during their flight.
In addition to physical comfort, the new cabin will feature an advanced in-flight entertainment system. The seats will incorporate Panasonic's Astrova system, with 16-inch 4K screens, Bluetooth audio pairing, USB-C fast-charging ports, and AC power outlets, ensuring passengers remain connected and entertained.
"Premium Comfort reflects our deep understanding of our customers’ evolving needs and our commitment to providing more options so every passenger can travel the way they want," commented Paulo Miranda, Vice President of Customers at LATAM Airlines Group. "It is a product that combines comfort, space, and high-level service with exceptional value," he added.
Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating, highlighted the close collaboration between the two companies. "Our close collaboration with LATAM will result in a truly unique seat for their Premium Comfort Class passengers. The PL3530 model offers premium comfort, elevates privacy to a new level, and will be a standout addition to their fleet and the South American market," stated Hiller.
With this move, LATAM not only modernizes the interior of its wide-body fleet but also aligns with the global trend of major world airlines, which already offer similar products to meet the demand of passengers seeking a travel experience superior to economy class without the cost of a business class seat.
