LATAM Ecuador has suspended around 48 flights so far this January due to the Omicron infection increase in its crew members.

Due to this situation, the carrier has been granting facilities to its passengers to change their itineraries for the closest possible dates.

In case the passenger does not wish to change their itinerary, LATAM Ecuador is giving flexibility for money refund.

For this reason, the airline is recommending to its passengers to check their travel itineraries on the official platform to confirm the status of the flight.

Given this uncertainty due to flight cancellations not only in Ecuador but throughout the region, LATAM Airlines Group has issued a statement by which it estimates the group’s operations in this month of January.

LATAM Airlines Group has predicted that, for this month, the domestic operation will grow 133% compared to January 2019.

This January, LATAM Ecuador will connect Quito with the following Ecuadorian cities: Catamayo, Cuenca, Guayaquil, Manta and Puerto Francisco de Orellana.

Likewise, LATAM Ecuador will inaugurate this month the new domestic route that will link the cities of Quito with Nueva Loja.

Finally, the airline will connect Guayaquil with Galapagos: Baltra and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.

The carrier will offer for this January 2022, a total of 8 domestic routes, equivalent to 37 daily flights on average.

Regarding international operations, LATAM Airlines Group forecasts for its Ecuadorian subsidiary that operations will reach this January, 21% of what international operations were in January 2019.

This January, LATAM Ecuador will connect the city of Quito with Lima, and the city of Guayaquil with Lima and Santiago de Chile.

Finally, on January 14, LATAM Ecuador requested the Colombian Civil Aviation Authority permission to operate the Quito – Bogotá – Quito route with 7 weekly frequencies, which will be operated with Airbus A319 or Airbus A320 aircraft.

If this request is approved, the Ecuadorian subsidiary of LATAM Airlines Group would be operating a total of 4 international routes soon.
