LATAM Colombia requests to operate flights between Bogotá and Aruba
The Directorate of Air Transport and Commercial Aviation Affairs of Colombia’s Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics has announced that on April 28, 2025, Aerovías de Integración Regional S.A. and/or LATAM Airlines Colombia S.A. submitted a request via electronic communication to add a new route to their operating permit under the regular air transport category for passengers, mail, and cargo.
The requested route is as follows:
- Route: Aruba (AUA) – Bogotá (BOG)
- Aircraft: Airbus A320
- Frequency: Two weekly flights
- Traffic Rights: Fifth Freedom of the Air
- Estimated Start of Operations: First half of 2026
In accordance with the principle of transparency and Article RAC 5 of the Manual of Procedures for Aeronautical Activities of Commercial Air Services, this information will be publicly available on the website of the Civil Aeronautics Unit for three (3) days, allowing interested parties to review the proposal.
In 2024, Aruba Airport and the Aruba Tourism Authority announced an increase in LATAM Airlines’ flights between Lima and Aruba. Colombia is now set to join this network, enhancing connectivity between the destinations.
In this market, LATAM would compete with Avianca (14 weekly flights on the Bogotá–Aruba route) and Wingo (2 weekly flights Bogotá–Aruba and 3 weekly flights Medellín–Aruba).
