LATAM Airlines Peru launches operations from new terminal at Jorge Chávez International Airport
LATAM Airlines Peru has begun operations from the newly inaugurated terminal at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) with flight LA2482 to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). This first departure from the new facilities marks a significant step in the modernization of Lima’s airport infrastructure.
The flight, operated by a Boeing 767 with registration CC-CXJ, departed on time at 1:18 PM local time. This air service links two major hubs in the highly competitive global aviation market.
On one hand, the revamped Lima airport is establishing itself as a key connection point in South America, enhancing access to crucial markets in the United States and the Caribbean.
On the other hand, Atlanta is Delta Air Lines’ largest hub, and as a partner of LATAM under a Joint Venture Agreement, it consistently ranks as the world’s busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic.
LATAM Airlines' team in Peru carried out this operational transition with impressive coordination. The airline also opened its new facilities in the terminal, including the Signature Check-in lounge and a dedicated Premium Check-in area, both designed to enhance the experience for frequent travelers. Additionally, new counters and expanded customer service areas were introduced to improve passenger flow and comfort.
- What does the new Jorge Chávez terminal represent? The new terminal is part of an ambitious expansion project at Jorge Chávez International Airport aimed at increasing operational capacity, modernizing infrastructure, and enhancing the overall passenger experience, solidifying Lima’s role as a major regional hub.
- What is the LATAM-Delta Joint Venture? It is a strategic alliance that allows both airlines to coordinate their operations (routes, schedules, fares) in specific markets between North and South America, offering passengers a broader network of destinations, improved connections, and shared frequent flyer benefits.
- Why is Atlanta such an important airport? Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is Delta’s primary hub. Thanks to its strategic location and vast number of domestic and international connections, it handles the highest annual passenger traffic globally.
This direct connection between Lima and Atlanta not only benefits travelers between the two cities, but also strengthens Peru’s and South America’s air connectivity, providing more travel options and improved efficiency on routes to North America.
