LATAM Airlines launches global eSIM with travel data plans
LATAM becomes the first Latin American airline to offer a branded travel eSIM, fully integrated into its platform and eligible for miles accumulation.
LATAM Airlines Group has launched a travel eSIM service, making it the first airline in Latin America to offer a branded mobile connectivity solution. Developed in partnership with Gigs, the eSIM is fully integrated into LATAM’s digital ecosystem and is now available through its official website.
The product offers 1 to 10 GB data plans for regional and global destinations. According to the airline, it provides instant connectivity at competitive rates, bypassing costly roaming fees and the need for Wi-Fi networks.
“With eSIM LATAM, we are extending our mission beyond flights; we are creating a connected travel experience that goes beyond landing” said Ramiro Alfonsín, LATAM’s Chief Commercial Officer.
The service also enables travelers to accumulate LATAM Pass Miles with every purchase, reinforcing engagement with the group’s loyalty program. The eSIM can be activated instantly via LATAM’s online platform.
Rafa Plantier, VP of Go-to-Market at Gigs, noted that “people switch off airplane mode before unbuckling their seatbelts. Connectivity is now a fundamental part of the travel experience. LATAM has recognized that by integrating mobile services into their ecosystem, they are simplifying travel for millions.”
LATAM indicated that further integrations are planned in the coming months to enhance the product offering.
