KLM, the flag carrier of the Netherlands, continues to modernize its long-haul fleet with the reception of its 13th Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner. The aircraft, registered as PH-BKQ, landed at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) on the morning of Saturday, August 16, after completing its delivery flight from Boeing's assembly plant in Charleston, South Carolina.

This aircraft is the second of its kind that the airline has received in 2025 and aligns with the Air France-KLM group's strategy to operate more efficient and environmentally friendly fleets. Industry sources confirm that KLM now has only two more deliveries pending to complete its total order of fifteen 787-10 aircraft.

Following its traditional naming scheme, KLM names its Dreamliner fleet after flowers. The PH-BKQ bears the name "Vergeet-mij-nietje" on the port side of the fuselage and its English translation, "Myosotis," on the starboard side. This flower, commonly known as "Forget-me-not," symbolizes memories of loved ones.

The induction of these Dreamliners is a key step in the airline's wide-body fleet renewal plan. The Boeing 787-10s are progressively replacing older equipment, offering a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

What is the configuration of KLM's Boeing 787-10?

The cabin of KLM's Boeing 787-10 is configured to carry a total of 318 passengers, distributed across three classes:

38 seats in World Business Class.

    28 seats in Premium Comfort.

252 seats in Economy Class and Economy Comfort.

Once KLM receives the two remaining units, the company will close the current cycle of new Boeing wide-body passenger aircraft deliveries. The next major update in this segment is expected from the European competitor, as the airline anticipates the arrival of its first Airbus A350s. These aircraft, originally ordered by Air France, were reassigned to KLM as part of the aviation group's fleet optimization strategy.

The arrival of the A350s will mark a new phase for the company's long-haul operations, introducing this model into its fleet for the first time and continuing the retirement of its older aircraft.
