JetSMART to launch daily flights between Buenos Aires and Resistencia starting in November
The ultra low-cost carrier expands its presence in Chaco’s capital less than two months after launching service, entering a market still below pre-pandemic traffic levels and competing directly with Aerolíneas Argentinas.
JetSMART has confirmed that beginning in November, it will operate daily flights between Buenos Aires and Resistencia, just weeks after the ultra low-cost carrier backed by Indigo Partners launched operations in the Chaco capital.
Currently, JetSMART flies the route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Starting November 1, Tuesdays and Saturdays will be added, completing a daily schedule.
“We’re very pleased with the excellent response we’ve received since launching this route between Buenos Aires and Resistencia. We’re proud to expand to daily frequencies, in line with our growth and investment plans in Argentina,” said Federico Petazzi, JetSMART’s Commercial Manager in Argentina.
The airline inaugurated service to Resistencia on April 23, marking the first time in 12 years that the airport had regular service from a second airline.
JetSMART currently competes with Aerolíneas Argentinas, which in June operates 18 weekly flights from Buenos Aires/Aeroparque and 3 from Ezeiza to Resistencia.
Despite this renewed activity, Resistencia Airport has yet to recover pre-pandemic traffic levels, handling just 195,000 passengers in 2024, compared to nearly 300,000 in 2019. In the first four months of 2025, the airport saw a 22% decline in passenger numbers, dropping to 24th among Argentine airports, after averaging 18th to 20th over the past decade.
