JetSMART Launches Flights to Trelew, Expanding Its Presence in Argentine Patagonia
The airline will operate five weekly frequencies, and the route adds to the one connecting Aeroparque with Comodoro Rivadavia.
JetSMART inaugurated service to Trelew, in Argentina’s Chubut province, marking its second destination in Patagonia after resuming flights to Comodoro Rivadavia earlier this year.
The new Buenos Aires–Trelew route will operate five times per week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays—enhancing connectivity between southern Argentina and the central region.
To celebrate the launch, JetSMART announced promotional fares starting at ARS 30,000 per leg, including taxes and fees, reinforcing its commitment to offering affordable and efficient domestic travel.

The inaugural flight departed from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery at 11:00 AM, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Gonzalo Pérez Corral, JetSMART's Country Manager in Argentina. He highlighted the importance of this milestone: “The launch of this new domestic route is a key step in our expansion plan. We aim to enhance Argentina’s connectivity by expanding our destination network and increasing the number of direct flights.”
He added: “This not only enables fast, efficient travel on new aircraft but also supports economic growth in the region. We hope the community in Chubut embraces us as their airline of choice for connecting with Buenos Aires, the country, and the broader region.”
“Our experience shows this is a great opportunity to drive regional development and offer new opportunities for residents—whether they’re traveling for business, visiting family, or taking a vacation,” Pérez Corral concluded.
The Airbus A320 aircraft landed in Trelew at 1:00 PM, where it was welcomed by Chubut Governor Ignacio “Nacho” Torres and Trelew Mayor Gerardo Merino, among other officials.

Governor Torres remarked: “Since our first planning meeting, JetSMART has been fully engaged in making Chubut a showcase for tourism potential. Today, we’re not just talking about five new flights to Trelew—we also have five new frequencies to Comodoro Rivadavia, and we’re about to expand connectivity in Esquel as part of a broader, ambitious plan to leverage our international airports.”
Mayor Merino emphasized: “Our administration has prioritized working with aviation authorities, which is essential for the kind of city we’re building—where improved connectivity is indispensable.”

JetSMART’s Commercial Manager, Federico Petazzi, added: “We’ve come to Trelew with affordable fares, flexible payment options, and new aircraft. We appreciate the open dialogue with provincial and city officials, which helped us better understand local needs.”
Trelew Airport handled 281,000 domestic passengers in 2024, making it a strategic hub for tourism and economic development in Patagonia.
JetSMART currently operates a broad domestic network, along with international flights to Chile, Peru, Paraguay, and Brazil. Its fleet consists of new Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, including Argentina’s first A321neo jets—the most efficient and sustainable in the region, with capacities of 186 and 240 passengers, respectively.
