JetSMART Argentina will incorporate three Airbus A321neo aircraft currently operating in other subsidiaries of the group, CEO Estuardo Ortiz announced during an event at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires this Thursday. The event also featured Gonzalo Pérez Corral, JetSMART Argentina’s General Manager, and Arturo Barreira, Airbus’ President for Latin America and the Caribbean.

    First A321neo Arrives in Argentina

The first A321neo, registered CC-AWW, landed at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery at 5:55 AM on Thursday. The other two aircraft, CC-DIC and CC-DIE, are set to arrive in Argentina on March 13.

Although these additions will not immediately expand JetSMART Argentina’s net fleet, some A320s will undergo scheduled maintenance checks in the coming months. By mid-year, the airline will reach 15 aircraft based in Argentina, up from 12 currently, just in time for the winter travel peak.

Configured with 240 seats, the A321neo will increase seat capacity on high-demand domestic routes. Despite its larger size, its operating costs are comparable to those of an A320ceo/neo, making it a cost-effective solution for high-traffic markets.

Fleet Flexibility: A Key Strategy for JetSMART

JetSMART has followed a dynamic aircraft allocation strategy across its regional subsidiaries since its inception. With an order of 100 Airbus A320-family aircraft, including 14 A321XLRs, the group adjusts fleet deployment to maximize efficiency during peak demand periods and optimize operations on profitable routes.

Until recent regulatory changes introduced by President Javier Milei’s administration, JetSMART Argentina was excluded from the group's fleet rotation model seen in other countries. However, the reintroduction of the Interchange system and the certification of the A321 variant have now enabled greater flexibility in fleet management, allowing JetSMART Argentina to align more closely with the group's operational model.
