The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) has announced the appointment of Herman Schumacher, current Vice President of Operations, Safety, and Quality at Arajet, as Co-Chair of its Safety and Flight Operations Committee.
The announcement comes ahead of the ALTA Aviation Safety, Flight Ops & Training Summit, one of the region’s most important technical gatherings for operational safety. With this appointment, Arajet—which operates a fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft from its hub at Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) in Santo Domingo—secures a prominent role in the industry's leading technical collaboration forum. The committee's core mission is to identify and mitigate the most significant risks faced by flight operations across Latin America and the Caribbean.
What is ALTA’s Safety Committee?
The ALTA Safety and Flight Operations Committee is a technical working group composed of airline operators, regulatory authorities, and aviation experts. Its goal is to share best practices to strengthen operational safety, improve efficiency, and promote sustainability throughout the regional aviation industry.
