GOL Linhas Aéreas reactivates direct route between Porto Alegre and Buenos Aires after nine years
GOL Linhas Aéreas resumed its direct route between Porto Alegre and Buenos Aires this week, offering three weekly flights that connect Salgado Filho Airport with Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, located in the heart of the Argentine capital. This relaunch marks the return of a service that the airline had not operated for nine years.
The inaugural flights departed on Monday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 13. Flight G3 7010 took off from Buenos Aires at 10:25 p.m. on Monday, landing in Porto Alegre at 11:55 p.m. The following morning, flight G3 7011 departed Porto Alegre at 6:10 a.m., arriving in Buenos Aires at 8:00 a.m.
According to the airline, this direct connection significantly reduces travel time between the two cities and reaffirms the operational status of Porto Alegre’s international airport. "This route, which GOL had not operated for nine years, creates an opportunity to stimulate demand between Argentina and Rio Grande do Sul," said Rafael Araujo, GOL’s Network Planning Director.
The company noted that Argentine passengers can access popular Brazilian destinations such as Gramado, Canela, Bento Gonçalves, and the southern coastline from Porto Alegre. Meanwhile, Brazilian travelers will benefit from connections via Aeroparque to Bariloche, Mendoza, Córdoba, Ushuaia, and El Calafate, thanks to GOL’s partnership with Aerolíneas Argentinas, which also operates four weekly flights on the same route.
Porto Alegre is now the 12th Brazilian city with direct GOL flights to Buenos Aires, joining Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Florianópolis, Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Maceió, Natal, Recife, Porto Seguro, and Salvador.

GOL reports that the air corridor between Brazil and Argentina has expanded by 57% in the first half of 2025. This growth includes new routes, increased flight frequencies, and more available seats. The airline also plans to resume seasonal direct flights to Bariloche from Guarulhos between July and August.
Flights on this new route are operated using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, configured to seat 176 passengers in their international version. Tickets are available through GOL’s official channels and Smiles.
