GOL Linhas Aéreas in Advanced Talks with Embraer over E195-E2 Jets, Sources Say
Persistent rumors in Brazilian aviation circles suggest a potential partnership between GOL Linhas Aéreas and Embraer, possibly leading to the addition of E-Jets E2 aircraft to GOL's fleet. For a long time, this scenario existed mainly as a recurring rumor in aviation forums, with no official confirmation of any formal talks or negotiations between the two companies.
However, recent reports shared by the “Viajando com o Luiz” channel and echoed by our partner outlet AEROIN indicate that discussions may have reached an advanced stage. Sources linked to the companies reportedly stated that the process is progressing steadily toward a deal.
According to the reports, current discussions are focused on the seating configuration for the E195-E2 model and aircraft delivery timelines. Additionally, a GOL delegation is said to have traveled to the Netherlands. The trip’s objective would be to negotiate crew training programs, given that Dutch carrier KLM operates the E195-E2 and has the necessary flight simulators for pilot instruction.
GOL Linhas Aéreas currently operates an all-Boeing 737 fleet, including 737-700, 737-800, 737 MAX 8, and 737-800 BCF freighters. The Embraer E195-E2 could provide the airline with a tool to optimize regional routes and enter new markets that may not justify the larger capacity of a 737.
The E195-E2’s range would allow it to serve destinations across South America, parts of the Caribbean, and even the western edge of Africa, using a more efficiently sized module—typically configured with 120 to 146 seats—offering more balanced operating costs.

This development comes at a pivotal moment for GOL. On May 20, the airline received U.S. court approval for its reorganization plan and aims to conclude its Chapter 11 recovery process by June 2025. Industry observers speculate that GOL may be waiting for this milestone to make any formal announcement regarding a deal with Embraer.
Neither GOL Linhas Aéreas nor Embraer has released an official statement confirming the advanced negotiations or details about a potential E-Jets E2 acquisition. The aviation sector remains alert to any updates, especially as GOL emerges from Chapter 11—an event that could mark the beginning of a new chapter for the airline, potentially featuring aircraft manufactured in Brazil.
