The Government removed Franco Mogetta, the Nation's Secretary of Transport, from his position. He will leave his post early next week and be replaced by Luis Pierrini, Javier Milei's government asked for his resignation, and he will be replaced by Luis Pierrini, a man linked to the insurance industry who enjoys the confidence of the Minister of Economy Luis Caputo, who oversees the area. Pierrini is a businessman from Mendoza who comes from the insurance sector.
Mogetta is one of the officials who had joined the Government at the beginning of Javier Milei's term due to his connection with Juan Schiaretti, the former governor of Córdoba. Sources stated that Milei's government asked for his resignation.
Taking office in December 2023, Mogetta oversaw Argentina's transport portfolio, including the critical aviation sector, during a period marked by the new administration's push for significant deregulation. His time involved navigating the government's stated goals of implementing an "open skies" policy ('cielos abiertos') to increase airline competition and route availability.
As Secretary, he was responsible for the oversight of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) and dealt with the implications of these potential policy shifts for both domestic and international carriers, including the state-owned Aerolíneas Argentinas, within a context pointing towards the structural reforms mentioned later in this report, such as the potential merging of air transport bodies.

According to information obtained by Aviacionline, Mogetta's dismissal reportedly had "purely political" connotations and comes just as the Government prepares to implement a series of transformations in the Transport area, overseen by Federico Sturzenegger from the Ministry of Deregulation and State Transformation. Among these transformations are the dissolution of some agencies and the merger of some areas of air transport.
