Starting on January 1, 2024, Flybondi will begin operating regular flights between Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata, marking, for the first time, the arrival of a low-cost airline to the main beach destination on the Argentine Atlantic coast.

Initially, Flybondi will operate four weekly flights to Mar del Plata, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires at 11:00 PM and returning from the resort at 12:20 AM. Promotional rates are available from ARS 9,499 final per segment (~ USD 9 at free market exchange rate).

«For years they have been asking us to fly to Mar del Plata, and as we listen to our passengers, this summer we are fulfilling the request», said Mauricio Sana, CEO of Flybondi.

«Flybondi offers one more connectivity option for the thousands of travelers who choose La Feliz. Adding a national destination, in this case, the 18th, is always a reason for celebration because it means more freedom to fly«, he added.

Mar del Plata thus joins the Flybondi network, which from Buenos Aires (Aeroparque and Ezeiza) covers nationally Bariloche, Comodoro Rivadavia, Córdoba, Corrientes, El Calafate, Puerto Iguazú, Jujuy, Mendoza, Neuquén, Salta, Santiago del Estero, Posadas, Puerto Madryn, Tucumán, Trelew, and Ushuaia; and internationally, Florianópolis, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo.

The low-cost airline recently received three more Boeing 737-800s, bringing its fleet to a total of 15 aircraft. Domestically, it holds a 20% market share, and 5% of the regional international market (bordering countries).

The arrival of Flybondi to Mar del Plata will mean that, for the first time in almost five years, Ástor Piazzolla airport will receive regular flights from a second major airline (it occasionally had LADE flights, the «essential air service» airline that belong to the Argentine Air Force). Avianca Argentina operated there until its closure in June 2019.

During the peak of the summer season, Aerolíneas Argentinas will have on average 32 weekly flights to Mar del Plata from Buenos Aires/Aeroparque, three from Bahía Blanca, five from Córdoba, four from Mendoza, three from Rosario, and four from Tucumán, as well as a new route with two weekly flights between Mar del Plata and Montevideo.
