Error Fare: Iberia cancels issued tickets and offers discount voucher
On February 3rd, for a period of about 6 hours, airfares appeared on the Iberia Argentina page at prices far below the average, which prompted a flood of bookings. As with similar instances from other companies, the airline canceled the bookings and will offer a discount voucher to those who purchased the tickets at the incorrect price.
When asked by Aviacionline, Iberia stated that «the system mistakenly applied a currency change well below the current rate, affecting purchases made through iberia.com Argentina with local currency.»
In response, it continues, «the company has canceled all bookings made during that time frame, has issued a full refund for all of them, and has offered a 10 percent discount for future purchases to all affected customers. This discount voucher is valid for one year, until February 5, 2025.»
The company notes that it has already contacted «nearly all of the customers. Iberia regrets the situation caused by this technical error and has strengthened its customer service capacity to handle any requests from those affected.»
