Emirates is continuing the process of optimizing the operations of its Airbus A380 fleet. After withdrawing the superjumbo from eight routes at the end of the year, the Arab carrier announced a total of twelve changes to the model’s flights as a way of getting around rising costs.

As of the week of March 7, the carrier no longer operates the A380 to Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Birmingham, Copenhagen, Nice, Prague, and Tokyo airports. In principle, the measure will be in effect until the end of 2022.

The company reported that «Emirates services to some cities on our network have been rescheduled, following a routine review of our operational requirements. Emirates remains committed to rebuilding its global network and services. In this regard, they will announce the return of A380s on specific routes at the proper time,» according to our partner site Aeroin.

Other major changes are being adopted on the other routes operated by the A380. These modifications involve fewer flights, equipment changes, and delay mitigation.

Among the modifications implemented by the company, the route between Houston (USA) and Perth (Australia) will not be served by the four-engine aircraft until early December and only one A380 will operate daily at Bangkok airport instead of the four aircraft initially planned for this year.

In summary, the A380 network changes affect Bangkok, Barcelona, Barcelona, London, Houston, Manchester, Moscow, Paris, Perth, Seoul, Singapore, Washington, and Zurich. Flights to Sao Paulo remain unchanged for the time being.
