During its 2024 financial results conference, Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer confirmed to Aviacionline that negotiations to replace Aerolíneas Argentinas' current E190AR fleet with E195-E2 aircraft have been "suspended" following the change in government.

"After the change in administration, the process was put on hold," said Francisco Gomes Neto, CEO of Embraer, in response to Aviacionline’s inquiry. "We believe the E195-E2 is the best option to replace the E190 fleet, but the process is currently suspended. We are ready to resume discussions whenever possible," he added.

Background of the E195-E2 Acquisition Process

In February 2023, then Aerolíneas Argentinas CEO Pablo Ceriani confirmed that the airline intended to incorporate Embraer E195-E2 aircraft as part of its regional fleet renewal plan.

The acquisition process began in July 2023 with an open bidding process that included leasing companies and the aircraft manufacturer, allowing financial consortia to submit proposals to supply the aircraft. The airline initially preferred to receive two aircraft in 2024, five in 2025, and five more in 2026, but was open to alternative delivery schedules depending on supplier availability.

In August 2023, a delegation from Aerolíneas Argentinas, led by Ceriani, traveled to São Paulo to advance discussions on the Embraer fleet renewal, including technical and financial aspects of the agreement. These details were reaffirmed in a presentation in October.
