El Dorado International Airport has been honored with the Platinum Award for Operational Excellence, granted by Cirium, a UK-based aviation analytics company. This prestigious award recognizes airports that excel in efficiency, reliability, and service—key factors that directly impact the passenger experience.
Performance Metrics and Evaluation
Cirium’s assessment is based on key performance indicators that measure airport efficiency. These include:
- Passenger impact: Analyzing the volume of travelers affected by delays and distinguishing between airports with minimal disruptions and those with higher impact.
- Traffic flow optimization: Evaluating an airport’s ability to manage air traffic efficiently and reduce interruptions.
- Growth and connectivity: Reviewing the number of destinations served, total passenger volume (based on inbound and outbound seats), and annual increases in flight frequency and passenger capacity.
Industry Recognition and Statements
Natalí Leal, General Manager of OPAIN, the company managing El Dorado, emphasized that the award reflects the collective efforts of the airport community to enhance operational efficiency.
“This recognition is for the entire airport community, with whom we work collaboratively to provide the best service and travel experience to the nearly 46 million passengers who pass through El Dorado each year,” Leal stated.
