Delta operates Airbus A350-900s to Chile Starting in July

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines (ATL) has modified its reservation system, revealing some changes for its routes to South America.

Beginning July 1, the carrier will fly between Atlanta and Santiago (SCL), Chile, on 339-seat Airbus A350-900 aircraft, replacing the 293-seat Airbus A330-300.

The Airbus A350-900s that have been scheduled previously belonged to LATAM. With this change in the schedule, the company will have more than 4,746 seats per week instead of the 4,102 offered with the A330s.

Within the U.S.-Chile market, Delta Air Lines must compete against American Airlines to Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, and New York; United Airlines to Houston; and LATAM to Miami, New York, and Los Angeles.

In 2019, flights to Atlanta were the fourth-largest link to the United States carrying 127,533 passengers, according to Chile’s Civil Aviation Board (JAC).
