    Delta Air Lines inaugurated its flights between Atlanta (ATL) and Puerto Plata (POP), marking the airline’s fourth destination in the Dominican Republic.

    The flights will operate daily using Boeing 737-800 aircraft configured for 160 passengers, divided into 16 seats in First Class, 36 in Comfort+, and 108 in Economy. Operations will run until April 13, offering a total capacity of 20,800 seats during this period.

    In the Dominican Republic, Delta also serves Punta Cana (PUJ), Santiago de los Caballeros (STI), and Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ). According to the Cirium platform, the airline has scheduled up to 115 weekly flights across nine routes this season, representing a 12.7% increase compared to the previous one.

    Puerto Plata: Current Landscape

    Puerto Plata is primarily a destination chosen by airlines from the United States and Canada during the summer and winter peak seasons, although it also maintains year-round connections.

    The airport is ranked as the fourth most important in the country, having handled 832,917 passengers from January to September this year, according to the Dominican Republic’s Civil Aviation Board (JAC). Its main connections include Miami, New York, and Toronto.
