    Costa Rica is one of the most popular vacation destinations for American tourists. Last year, 1,431,644 travelers from the United States to the Central American country traveled by air, according to reports from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute. This represents an increase of 11.6% compared to pre-pandemic levels.

    In total, seven airlines operate between the United States and Liberia/Guanacaste, offering more than 21,000 seats per week. This winter season, Daniel Oduber International Airport will have a new destination from the west coast of the United States.

    American Airlines

    • Charlotte: daily flights.
    • Dallas/Fort Worth: daily flights.
    • New York-JFK: once weekly.
    • Miami: twice daily flights.
    • Chicago O’Hare: once weekly.
    • Philadelphia: one weekly frequency (starting December 7, 2024).

    All flights are operated on Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

    Alaska Airlines

    • Los Angeles: two daily flights on Boeing 737-900.
    • San Francisco: one weekly frequency on Boeing 737-8 (starting December 21).
    • Seattle-Tacoma: one weekly frequency on Boeing 737-8 (starting December 21);

    JetBlue Airways

    • Boston: three weekly flights on Airbus A320 and A321 with Mint.
    • New York-JFK: daily flights on Airbus A320 and A321 with Mint.

    Delta Air Lines

    • Atlanta: 15 weekly flights on Boeing 757-200.
    • Boston: one weekly frequency on Airbus A321neo (starting January 11, 2025).
    • Minneapolis/St. Paul: daily flights on Boeing 737-900s.

    Sun Country Airlines

    • Minneapolis/St. Paul: two weekly flights on Boeing 737-800s.

    United Airlines

    • Denver: daily flights.
    • Newark: daily flights.
    • Houston-Intercontinental: two daily flights.
    • Chicago O’Hare: two weekly flights.
    • Los Angeles: once weekly.
    • San Francisco: once weekly.

    All routes are operated on Boeing 737-900 aircraft. Some service frequencies to Houston-Intercontinental are on Boeing 737-800s.

    Southwest Airlines

    • Houston-Hobby: daily flights on Boeing 737-700s and 737-8s.
    • Denver: once weekly on Boeing 737-8s.
    • Baltimore: once weekly on Boeing 737-8s.
