    The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) reported that Brazilian civil aviation achieved one of its best performances in 2024, with 118.3 million passengers in the domestic and international markets. This figure is slightly below the 118.6 million recorded in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.

    Passenger numbers increased by approximately 5% compared to 2023, adding 5.6 million passengers. These results are detailed in ANAC's most recent demand and supply report, which includes December 2024 data, consolidating the year's overall performance.     According to ANAC, the international market set new records in passenger and cargo mobilization, with 24.9 million passengers and 891.6 thousand tons of cargo, marking the best results since the historical series began in January 2000.

    The domestic market also grew in 2024, with 93.4 million passengers mobilized, an increase of 2.1% compared to 2023. Domestic cargo volumes reached 488 thousand tons, up 9.7% compared to 2023.

    December 2024 Overview

    In December, passenger mobilization continued its upward trend for the fourth consecutive year, reaching 10.7 million passengers in the domestic and international markets. This number is close to the all-time high for December, recorded in 2019.

    The international sector achieved historic records in December, with 2.3 million passengers transported (a growth of 15.8% compared to December 2023) and 77.9 thousand tons of cargo (an increase of 11.7% compared to December 2023).

    In the domestic market, 8.4 million passengers were mobilized (a growth of 4.9% compared to December 2023), while 41.7 thousand tons of cargo were processed, representing a 3.4% decline compared to December 2023.

    Demand and Supply

    The sector’s demand in 2024, measured in RPK (revenue passenger kilometers), grew 10.8% compared to 2023, while supply, measured in ASK (available seat kilometers), increased by 10%.

    Comparing December 2024 to December 2023, demand grew by 11.7%, while supply increased by 10.1%. In the international market, annual demand grew 15%, with supply increasing 14.8%. December demand was 14.6% higher than in December 2023, and supply rose by 13.5%.

    In the domestic market, demand in 2024 increased by 5% compared to 2023, with supply rising 3.6%. In December, demand was 7.6% higher than in December 2023, while supply grew by 5.5%.
