BoA Begins Ticket Sales for Bolivia to Washington-Dulles Flights
Following the announcement made yesterday by Mario Borla, manager of Boliviana de Aviación (BoA), that this Thursday, August 7, the company will operate its first flight to Washington D.C., the option to purchase tickets for this new route is now available on its website.
This operation, however, would be symbolically "inaugural," as the first regular flights are scheduled for a later date. This repeats a practice the company has used with other destinations such as Iquique or Santiago.
According to what we at Aviacionline were able to observe in the system, the first flight between Santa Cruz de la Sierra and Washington-Dulles is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4th.

The flight will depart from Viru Viru Airport in Santa Cruz de la Sierra on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 AM, arriving at Washington Dulles Airport at 6:40 PM, after a flight time of 9 hours and 10 minutes.
In the opposite direction, the flight will take off from Washington-Dulles at 8:05 PM, arriving in Santa Cruz de la Sierra at 7:15 AM the following day.
What is peculiar, although it could be a system error during the initial loading of the flights, is that they are listed as being operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which have a regular range of 5,765 km, while the distance between Santa Cruz de la Sierra and Washington is 6,439 km.
Another striking issue is that the schedules are not adjusted to allow for connections to and from Buenos Aires, a market that, at least for flights to Miami, is usually attractive. BoA currently operates six weekly flights between Santa Cruz de la Sierra and Miami.
The arrival of Boliviana de Aviación in Washington will mark a milestone for Dulles Airport, which is currently only connected to two South American cities: Bogotá (11 weekly flights by Avianca) and São Paulo-Guarulhos (7 weekly flights by United Airlines).
