Azul Launches Seasonal Campinas–Mendoza Route with High Load Factor
The new service strengthens winter travel options between Brazil and Argentina, with three weekly flights through August.
Azul Linhas Aéreas inaugurated regular service this Tuesday, June 17, between its main hub in Campinas (VCP) and Mendoza (MDZ), Argentina. The inaugural flight, which marks the beginning of a seasonal offering tailored to winter travel, departed with a strong 90% load factor.
The new route will operate through August 24 with three weekly frequencies. Departures from Viracopos International Airport are scheduled for Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, using Airbus A320neo aircraft configured for 174 passengers. In total, Azul plans to operate 60 flights on this route during the season, reinforcing connectivity between Brazil and one of Argentina’s most important winter destinations.
This launch reflects Azul’s ongoing strategy to expand its international network. Mendoza was selected in response to the growing interest among Brazilian tourists in the region, known globally for its wineries and ski resorts.
“This inaugural flight to Mendoza caters to customers traveling during Argentina’s high winter season,” said Jason Ward, Azul’s Vice President of People and Customers. He emphasized that the route is part of the airline’s commitment to increase international connectivity, offering more options for travelers from the hundreds of cities Azul serves across Brazil.
Mendoza shines in winter thanks to its unique blend of wine tourism and snow sports. “This time of year is perfect for exploring local wines, enjoying snowfall, and practicing sports like skiing and snowboarding at resorts such as Las Leñas and Los Penitentes,” Ward added. Azul’s tour operator, Azul Viagens, also offers packages that include flights and accommodation to complement the new route.
Winter Connectivity Between Brazil and Argentina
What’s the flight offering to Argentina for the 2025 winter season? This year shows a significant increase in air connectivity between the two countries. In addition to Azul’s new Mendoza service, the airline has also expanded its flights to Bariloche. Other carriers, including LATAM Airlines and Aerolíneas Argentinas, have reinforced their seasonal frequencies, highlighting the strong demand among Brazilian travelers for Argentina’s wine and snow destinations.
Mendoza’s addition to Azul’s network joins the carrier’s broader winter strategy, which includes a robust increase in Bariloche flights from Campinas. The competitive landscape between South America’s leading airlines intensifies during peak season, as they aim to capitalize on the growing tourism flow between Brazil and Argentina.
