Azul increases its operations in Rio de Janeiro by 18% with the recent decision on Santos Dumont Airport

Azul will gradually resume flights from Santos Dumont Airport to Belo Horizonte (MG) and Campinas (SP) starting January 2024. The decision is in line with Rio de Janeiro’s new aviation policy, which limits operations at Santos Dumont airport to 6.5 million passengers per year.
In addition to Campinas, Belo Horizonte and the 13 daily takeoffs from the air bridge with Congonhas, the airport will once again receive flights from Guarulhos International Airport (SP).

With the move, following the new decision based on technical criteria and in line with global best practices in the sector, Rio de Janeiro passengers will benefit from an increase in daily flights to the state, from 50 takeoffs in January 2024 to 59 in April 2024, an increase of 18%. The increase includes flights from Galeão, Santos Dumont and Jacarepaguá airport, through Azul Conecta, which has daily takeoffs to Congonhas, in São Paulo (SP).
In addition to operations at Santos Dumont, Azul will continue with the recently announced expansion at Tom Jobim International Airport (Galeão), flying to Belo Horizonte (MG), Campinas (SP), Campina Grande (PB), Curitiba (PR), Maceió (AL), Porto Alegre (RS) and Recife (PE).
