Aruba Airport expects to recover more than 80% of its capacity during the summer

Aruba is one of the many destinations in the Caribbean that has benefited not only from the holiday season that begins in the northern hemisphere, but also from the advance in vaccinations in countries like the United States.

The increase in seating capacity at the Queen Beatrix International Airport continues as airlines add flights, especially in the months of June and July, the peak of the season. In this regard, the Aruba Airport Authority, operator and administrator of the Caribbean airport, highlighted the following data:

During the month of July, 80% will be operated compared to the pre-pandemic period of 2019, thanks to the increase in all regions, which results in 25 services per day compared to the 35 registered in 2019.

The best positioned airlines are the North American and regional airlines with destinations to and within the Caribbean, which continue to add routes and reactivate the old ones for the season that is being relatively positive for the entire region.

According to data provided by the Reina Beatrix International Airport, the percentage of recovery in capacity of 80% for June-July, could increase to 94% by the months of November and December, depending on the situation in countries such as Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, which are the ones with the highest number of positive COVID cases in the South American region.

However, from Colombia, Avianca estimates to increase its service from Bogotá from 4 to 5 per week during the months of July and August.

For its part, from North America, American Airlines increased its weekly services from Charlotte from 7 to 21 for the months of June and July, also resuming weekly service on Saturdays from LaGuardia since June 12.

United and JetBlue join, increasing services for the same period from Washington and JFK respectively.

Regarding Europe, KLM will start operating in July daily from Amsterdam (via Bonn), adding 3 more weekly flights between July 23 and August 15.

Also from the capital of the Netherlands, TUI NL increases weekly flights to 3 for June, planning to add one more flight from July 6.

And finally, TUI UK expects to restart its weekly flight throughout the year from Gatwick Airport from July 7. However, this is pending review by the English authorities.

«The demand environment is undoubtedly positive with our airlines adding new destinations and capacity by increasing flight frequency.
