Argentine Government Formalizes New General Directorate for the Presidential Air Fleet
Through a decree, the Ministry of Defense has formalized the structure that will manage and maintain Argentina's presidential aircraft.
The Argentine National Government has formalized the creation of the structure that will be responsible for managing the presidential air fleet. Through Decree 514/2025, published in the Official Gazette on July 28, 2025, the General Directorate for the Operation and Maintenance of the Presidential Air Fleet was officially established.
This administrative measure adapts the structure of the Ministry of Defense to absorb previously transferred responsibilities. The original decision was made through Decree No. 377/25 on June 3, which stipulated that the administration, operation, and custody of the presidential fleet would move under the purview of the Ministry of Defense, while still following instructions from the General Secretariat of the Presidency.
The new General Directorate will report to the Undersecretariat of Operational Planning and Defense Logistics Service. Its creation aims to centralize and professionalize the management of state aircraft, leveraging the technical and logistical capabilities of the Argentine Air Force.
Keys to the New Structure
What entity was created? The General Directorate for the Operation and Maintenance of the Presidential Air Fleet.
Who does it report to? The Ministry of Defense, through the Undersecretariat of Operational Planning and Logistics Service.
Why was it created? To formalize the structure that will manage the presidential fleet following its transfer to the Ministry of Defense, seeking to optimize resources and efficiency.
Which aircraft will it manage? The fleet includes the Boeing 757 ARG-01, Boeing 737 ARG-02, Learjet 60 ARG-03, and Sikorsky helicopters.
The decree not only establishes the new directorate but also modifies the responsibilities of other areas, such as the General Directorate of Administration for Logistics, to align the entire support chain. Additionally, the corresponding positions are incorporated and standardized within the Executive Functions Nomenclator of the National Public Employment System (SINEP).

The aircraft that will fall under the responsibility of this new directorate include:
Boeing 757-256 (ARG-01)
Boeing 737-500 (ARG-02)
Learjet 60 (ARG-03)
Sikorsky S-70A and S-76B helicopters
The costs associated with implementing this structure will be covered by the budget credits already allocated to Jurisdiction 45 – Ministry of Defense. This move consolidates a shift in the policy for managing state air assets, aiming for greater synergy with the capabilities of the Armed Forces.
