Argentina: mandatory conciliation decreed and air traffic controllers’ strike suspended
The Ministry of Labor of Argentina issued on Monday 10, the Mandatory Conciliation after it was known yesterday that the Association of Workers of Technical Association and Employees of Protection and Security of Air Navigation (ATEPSA) would initiate a fight plan that included the affectation of flights from tomorrow until January 31.
The Argentine Air Navigation Company (EANA) stated in a press release that it «recognizes the legitimacy of the workers’ claim» and at the same time ratified «the will of permanent dialogue to reach an agreement».
«The difficulties posed on a global scale by the Covid-19 pandemic represent enormous challenges for all industries and for aeronautics, in particular. In this context, which has drastically affected the economic income of EANA S.E. as the collection of fees for its essential air traffic control service has dropped significantly, the company must await the definition of the 2022 Budget in order to finally reach an agreement», concluded EANA.
The union’s claim included points such as the lack of personnel and staffing levels below the minimum recommended safety standards, as well as the compliance with the review clause of the 2021 labor agreement that established a 45% salary increase, which will finally be below the estimated inflation of 55%.
«We have also been demanding for years without any kind of response issues that affect the operating and technical conditions linked to working tools. For example, communication systems are installed that are incompatible with others that are in operation and then must be uninstalled; aeronautical frequencies that are interfered with, just to mention some of the points we are raising», said Jonatan Doino, General Secretary of ATEPSA, yesterday.
