Argentina eases Covid health protection measures and reopens borders to foreigners

In a press conference that took place this Tuesday morning September 21 led by the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, and the brand new Chief of Cabinet, Juan Luis Manzur, a new stage of flexibilization was announced in Argentina, after highlighting the containment tasks of the Delta variant to the country.
Among the highlights of the announcement were:
- Eliminate the isolation of Argentines and foreigners arriving for labor reasons as of September 24.
- Starting October 1, it is planned to authorize the entry of foreigners from neighbor countries without isolation with the progressive opening of land borders.
- Between October 1 and November 1, the passenger quota will be gradually increased, whether by air, land or sea.
- As of November 1, the authorization of foreigners to enter the country, beyond bordering countries, is also planned.
In order to avoid isolation upon arrival, passengers must have a complete vaccination schedule, undergo a PCR test before boarding, an antigen test upon arrival and a third test on the seventh day.
Upon reaching 50% of vaccinated the population, the antigen test on arrival and on the seventh day will no longer be required, and arrival quotas will be lifted. This indicator is currently at 43%.
In contact with Aviacionline, Felipe Baravalle, Executive Director of JURCA, the Chamber of Airlines in Argentina, celebrated the announcement, although they stated that they expect «more details to know quotas, separation of flights on arrival and which passengers can and cannot be boarded and from what date».
They also stated that they are «entirely at the disposal of the authorities to coordinate and participate with the different agencies in the implementation of the Careful Opening of Borders».
