Argentina Authorizes New International Routes for SKY Airline and Paranair

The Argentine Undersecretariat of Air Transport has approved new international routes for SKY Airline and Paranair, in line with bilateral agreements with Chile and Paraguay. The measures were published this Tuesday in the Official Gazette, formalizing routes that had already been announced or, in the case of Asunción – Salta, already inaugurated.
SKY Airline Expands Operations in Argentina
Under Provision 7/2025 (spanish), Chilean carrier SKY Airline was granted authorization to operate the Santiago de Chile – Buenos Aires – Salvador de Bahía route, in compliance with the current air transport agreements between Argentina and Chile.
According to the official document:
“The proposed operations fall within the bilateral framework governing air transport relations between both countries.”
It also highlights that SKY Airline has been officially designated by its national aviation authority to operate scheduled and non-scheduled services to Argentina.
The inaugural Buenos Aires – Salvador de Bahía flight is scheduled for April 2.
Additionally, under Provision 8/2025 (spanish), SKY Airline received approval to operate Puerto Montt – San Carlos de Bariloche, a key connection during peak tourist seasons. The regulation states that:
“The company has met the legal and administrative requirements established by Law 17.285 (Aeronautical Code) and its regulatory provisions.”
This new route will begin operations on April 4, with two weekly flights.
Paranair Adds Flights Between Paraguay and Argentina
Meanwhile, under Provision 9/2025 (spanish), Paraguayan airline Paranair was granted permission to operate scheduled passenger and cargo flights on the Asunción – Salta route.
The document states that the authorization was granted:
“In accordance with the bilateral agreements between Paraguay and Argentina,”
referring to the 1964 Agreement on Regular Air Transport, updated in the Memorandum of Understanding of July 31, 2024.
