Frank Elías Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana, and Víctor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet, announced that this alliance will impact the number of passengers the airline transports, strengthening the influx of visitors to the eastern region of the Dominican Republic.

Pacheco explained that Punta Cana Airport will become Arajet’s second base, allowing this tourist area to connect with the airline’s extensive network of destinations and over 200 connection combinations. Arajet will maintain its central base at the Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo.

“We are committed to making Arajet the airline for all Dominicans, and that is why we have always wanted to fly to all the country’s airports to give people the opportunity to travel to other destinations at the lowest prices in the market,” said Pacheco.

He added, “We are very happy and grateful to achieve this alliance with Grupo Puntacana, as Punta Cana Airport currently hosts the largest number of visitors arriving in the country by air, becoming the favorite destination for tourists. We are fully confident that together we will make the Dominican Republic the new air hub of the continent.”

Rainieri said “We thank Arajet for placing their trust in Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) and inviting us to be part of their expansion plans, to promote tourism and economic growth in the country.”

“We are happy to welcome them as commercial partners to our airport community. We are confident that this will be a successful alliance. With these new routes, we continue to expand the network of destinations and connections internationally, positioning ourselves as the most important airport in the Dominican Republic,” Rainieri added.

Punta Cana Airport currently handles 68% of the country’s tourist air traffic, connecting with 75 cities in 34 countries through 58 airlines, and moving more than 9 million passengers annually.

Arajet flights at Punta Cana Airport will begin on November 1, with destinations to be announced later. This airport becomes Arajet’s third destination in the Dominican Republic, as the airline also operates regular flights at the Cibao International Airport and is exploring the possibility of adding flights from the Puerto Plata International Airport.

Arajet is currently the Dominican airline with the most traffic in the first quarter of 2024, representing 8% of the total passengers transported in the country during May.
