American Airlines to Expand Services to Southern Cone with Focus on Chile for Summer 2025/2026
American Airlines is set to expand its services to the Southern Cone, with a strong focus on Chile, for the peak of the 2025/2026 austral summer season. Starting December 3, 2025, the airline will increase its flight frequencies between its Miami (MIA) hub and Santiago de Chile (SCL). Additionally, it will introduce a new aircraft on its Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW)–Santiago route. These changes will result in a capacity increase of over 15% compared to the previous season, totaling more than 9,000 weekly seats between the United States and Chile.
The Miami–Santiago route will see a rise in operations, increasing from seven to ten weekly flights. The daily service will continue to be operated with Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, while the three additional weekly flights will use Boeing 787-8s. The new flight, designated AA 759, will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing Miami at 9:30 PM and arriving in Santiago at 7:50 AM the next day (local times). The return leg, flight AA 219, will depart Santiago on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 11:55 PM, landing in Miami at 6:40 AM the following day.
Meanwhile, the seasonal route between Dallas/Fort Worth and Santiago will also see changes. Beginning October 25, 2025, American Airlines will replace the Boeing 787-8 used last season with a Boeing 777-200ER. This wide-body aircraft offers a total of 273 seats: 37 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy, 66 in Main Cabin Extra, and 146 in Economy.
American Airlines’ increased presence on its Chilean routes reflects a strategic move to capture peak-season demand between the two countries. The Fort Worth-based airline competes primarily with LATAM Airlines Group, which also offers an extensive network between Chile and the U.S., and with Delta Air Lines, which operates flights from Atlanta to Santiago. The combination of more available seats and larger aircraft is part of American’s plan to strengthen its foothold in this key South American market.
